Sonam Wangchuk, exemplifies the spirit of excellence in engineering. He has several innovations to his credit such as the Ice Stupa and the Solar tent.
He is the founding-director of the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL)and was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay award in 2018 for his efforts to improve the lives of young Ladhakhis.
India has traditionally been weak in athletics and gymnastics but that all has changed thanks to the three sportswomen - Dutee Chand, Hima Das and Dipa Karmakar.
All three of them excelled at the world stage and won medals for India in global sporting events which had never been done before.
Coming from humble beginnings each of these athletes battled tremendous odds to reach the pinnacle of their sport. Their lives exempify persistence and self-confidence
Mr. Khatnam, a retired railway officer, has proven that to do good for society you don't need extensive resources and any grandiose plans but just a strong intent and will to make a difference.
Saddened by the deterioration of the roads around him he went about filling potholes himself. Eventually, he quit his job and worked every day to fill as many as potholes and save as many lives as possible.
Initially he was alone. But that never deterred his conviction towards the cause. Every day, irrespective of the heat, cold or rain, he used to go out with his shovel and broom and filled as many potholes as possible.
